How To Become A Member
If you are interested in getting an AGC range badge, then this is the place to come for information. Obtaining an AGC range badge is an easy process once you understand what needs to be done. First, you have to understand a little about AGC itself.
The Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore, Inc. was formed on July 1, 1944 when a number of World War II veterans in the Baltimore, Maryland area began looking for a place for recreational and competitive shooting. They organized with several other Baltimore area shooting clubs to form the "AGC".
During its early years, the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore, Inc. developed into fifteen "Charter" member shooting clubs which, by virtue of their club Trustees and voting status, formed the Board of Trustees which governs the AGC. Today, these 15 Charter member clubs, combined with an additional 12 (non-voting) "Associate" member clubs, represent the 27 shooting clubs and approximately 2,200 members — which are the AGC.
What all this means is that strictly speaking, there are no "members" of AGC. Everyone who has a range badge is a member of one of the "associated gun clubs" that make up the AGC. Once you are a member in good standing of any of the associated gun clubs, you become eligible to purchase an AGC range badge. When you hold an AGC range badge, that gives you permission to use all of the facilities owned by the AGC at our Marriottsville range. It's kind of like having a hunting or fishing license. You purchase your license at an authorized dealer. Once you have the license then you can legally hunt or fish in Maryland. However, having a Maryland State hunting or fishing license does not make you an employee of the state of Maryland.
That being said, your job now is to find a club that best fits your interests and activities. Among the 27 associated gun clubs, we have clubs that specialize in certain areas and activities. Among the shooting sports, interests, and activities practiced by our member clubs are:
Some of our clubs have organized teams that compete at the club, state, and even national level. Other clubs are more informal and participate in club level events only. Most clubs are open to all prospective members. A few clubs limit their membership to employees of certain organizations only. Some clubs own and maintain their own ranges, but most use AGC facilities exclusively.
There are two ways to find the club that is the best fit for you. You can click here and follow the instructions found on that page to contact us. We will review the information you send us and someone will contact you within 48 hours with contact information on the club(s) that might be of interest to you.
